The Arkansas Center for Health Improvement analyzed type II diabetes among Arkansas Medicare beneficiaries aged 65 years and over within the 75 Arkansas counties. Using data from the Arkansas APCD for years 2012 and 2013, they observed type II diabetes prevalence rates and HbA1c testing rates. The study concludes that counties that had the highest diabetes rates also had the lowest HbA1c testing rates. This report highlights the valuable uses the Arkansas All-Payer Claims Database can provide and gives researches insight about Arkansas health disparities.
